Lauren Marx: "Sacred Decay" Book Launch Event

Join us on Saturday, August 28th for the launch party and exclusive first signing of “Sacred Decay: The Art of Lauren Marx”. This gorgeous hardcover book, published by Dark Horse in May of this year, features over 120 full color spreads of Lauren’s illustrations.

“Fungus blooms and dies, bones weather, and moths form halos around dismembered animals in this darkly exquisite collection from acclaimed artist Lauren Marx. With an impressive eye for detail, Marx brings her uncanny subjects to life--or death--with awe-inspiring texture and intensity. Birds, beasts, fish, plants, and more blossom radiantly on the page in their cycle of birth and destruction.” -Dark Horse Comics

Grab your signed copy of the book by the artist, as well as mini prints, stickers, and her postcard set at the shop. We look forward to celebrating with Lauren and hope you can join us!

About the artist:

Lauren Marx (b. 1991) was raised, and currently resides, in Saint Louis, Missouri, where she also received her Bachelors of Fine Arts, with an emphasis in drawing, in 2014. Since getting her undergraduate degree, Lauren has dedicated her life to pursuing her passion for illustration and furthering her love of the natural, and supernatural, world.
Lauren primarily works in permanent, or semi-permanent, drawing mediums such as pen, ink, and watercolor. Her work focuses on exploring the native flora and fauna of North America to further her fascination with life and death, historic religious symbolism in art, and her own mental health. Her work is heavily influenced by her love of scientific illustration, Medieval marginalia and bestiaries, as well as Renaissance religious paintings.
